well it's been almost four months since I've posted. I think I'm about as good of a blogger as I predicted I would be.
So to fill in all the important things...
We got a house! Yay!! After about a month of searching and making several offers we got a house. We got our keys just before Mother's day weekend and we moved in a few weeks later. It's been a great change for us. We will probably be adjusting to the financial side of it for a bit but we are very happy with our new home.

this was taken the day I got the keys, we had not painted yet. it doesn't look like this now.

It was a different emotional process than I expected to be honest. We had made several other offers that had got rejected; so I was in denial for a long time that we were even in escrow until we were sitting in the office of the title company before it finally hit me that it was actually happening. We didn't tell anyone outside of our immediate family, and even then we made sure to reinforce that it wasn't a sure thing yet. Next thing I know we have our keys and I figured that it was time to get excited. Next was the moving out of our former home part, which I'll talk about later.
Our moving weekend was so stressful and yet the easiest move we have done. We nurses make our schedules two months in advance so when looking for a new home it's impossible to plan to accommodate a move because you can never predict things like escrow closing and keys in hand. So the weekend we physically moved our things I was working. During the day our boxes and furniture were being transported from House A to House B while I tried to get some sleep before clocking in at 1845. What made it so easy was the movers. This is our fifth move since we've been married and for the first time, we hired help. Best. Decision. Ever. That's all I'll say about that. It would have been impossible to have pulled off the move without the help.
I will admit that I was sad to leave our townhouse. It was the biggest place we ever rented and had it had a little bit of a backyard, I probably could have stayed there longer. I have gone through a period if mourning each time we said goodbye to a place we had once called home. Each one had some precious memories in it. Our tiny one-bedroom apartment was where we learned about being husband and wife. Our two bedroom place was where we brought home Paige and we endured the first couple months of baby boot camp. Our home in Reno was where we enjoyed the beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains, our first morning of all white snow, and where I later found out we were expecting another baby. And finally our townhouse was where we brought home Aubrey and became a family of four. I'm skipping many other memories but I'm sure I've made my point. It was hard to close the front door that final time, knowing that I no longer lived there after so many pinnacle moments of my adult life happened in that little home.
So that brings us to now. We are unpacked and now doing life in our first house. What has become a pleasant surprise is that we are all loving it more than when we first moved in. And we haven't even done one renovation project yet! We've painted the interior, but that's all so far. I have a long list, but none for the immediate future. The girls are much happier and have far fewer tantrums. It was a big and expensive change but it definitely needed to happen. Now we venture into the uncharted waters of home-ownership.
Til next time! Hopefully it will be soon?
